How to measure plans in feet and inches

ScaleDraw works in imperial as easily as metric. Calibrate in feet and inches, and every length shows in feet and inches, with areas in square feet.

  1. Add the plan

Drag the plan onto the board.

  2. Calibrate in feet

Press Calibrate, drag along a known dimension and choose ft as the unit. Type the length the way it's written: 12' 6", 12ft 6in or 12.5 all work.

  3. Measure

Lengths now read in feet and inches, such as 10′ 3″, and areas in square feet.

Choosing the precision

In the scale details (the ⓘ button beside Calibrate) you can show lengths to the nearest inch or quarter inch.

Mixing metric and imperial

Each picture keeps its own scale and unit, so a metric site plan can sit beside an imperial floor plan on the same board.

Questions

Can I type inches only?

Yes, choose in as the unit, or type a value like 30" when calibrating.

Does it convert to metric?

Calibrate in the unit you want to read. Recalibrating in another unit gives the same lengths converted.
